Hatters Best Team in the Division Suggestion

Last night, here at Vital Luton Town, we were expecting Accrington Stanley to be declared League Two champions.

Accrington, who courtesy of an unbeaten fifteen-game run, travelled to South Wales, to take on Newport County, knowing a draw would secure them the League Two title.

But it wasn’t to be.

Newport County, temporarily, derailed Accrington Stanley’s charge to the title, opening up a 2-0 lead, courtesy of goals from Padraig Amond and Michael Flynn, before Billy Kee pulled a goal back in the last-minute.

Despite some frantic huffing and puffing, Accrington couldn’t force an equaliser to spark those title celebrations which leaves them hoping to complete the job when they play Lincoln City, on Saturday, a side who are looking to secure a play-off place themselves.

However, whilst we’d sincerely like Luton Town to pip Accrington Stanley to the title, we cannot see it happening, as they still only need one point from their last two games, something they’ll surely achieve.

But, despite Accrington Stanley being the red-hot favourites to win the League Two title, Nathan Jones doesn’t think they are the best side in the division.

Jones, talking to Three Counties Radio and as quoted by the BBC, reckons that honour belongs to the Hatters, with Jones quipping,

“Accrington have done something wonderful.

“But over the season I’d struggle to find a better side than us in how we’ve played and how we’ve gone about our job.

“I’m biased because I’m proud of how we play, when I watch our games back they’re the most enjoyable games I watch.

“I watched over 200 League Two games this year, I watch five-a-week and ours are the most enjoyable ones to watch.”

Now perhaps Nathan is a little biased but it is hard to disagree with his views is it not?
