If Luton Town are to do more than consolidate in League Two next season then keeping things tight at the back will be of paramount importance.

Amongst the many recruits John Still has made this summer are the defensive duo of Luke Wilkinson and Paul Connolly. Both are expected, having League experience under their belts, to play roles next season.

Wilkinson, who arrived at Kenilworth Road from Dagenham and Redbridge, is amongst those of us who is looking at achieving back-to-back promotions and has remarked about that aim,

“Definitely, that`s the way it should be, we should be looking to get promoted again.”

“A lot of people might say, we`ve just come up, we should consolidate in League Two, but there`s a lot of ambitious people at the football club.”

There certainly is, we`ve a proud past and the aim has to be to get back to where we were used to, the top two flights.

Continuing on the progressive theme, Connolly, who has played in the Championship with Plymouth, Derby, Sheffield United and Leeds, also see Luton as a club that has to aim high, commenting to the local media,

“This club has got potential to be in the Championship.”

“It should be in the Championship but it`s not, so the gaffer is trying to rectify that.”

These truly are exciting times at Kenilworth and I, for one, can`t wait for hat opening League Two fixture against Carlisle United, the Hatters are back and don`t you forget it!
