Wednesday evening will see paying spectators inside Kenilworth Road for the first time since late February.
Okay, there may only be a 1000 but in these strange pandemic driven times we currently reside in, it is a start.
But the Hatters hierarchy are in a no-win situation when it comes to deciding how the tickets are to be distributed.
Whatever method they opt to us will cause consternation among the faithful.
As it turns out, and as announced by Gary Sweet and reported by Luton Today, the following scenario is to be adopted:
“The ticket office will be contacting 1,000 of our longest-standing season ticket holders from Monday morning to invite them to attend Wednesday’s match.
“It is important to note that supporters who live in Tier 3 areas are not permitted by the UK Government restrictions to travel into Tier 2 to attend football matches.
But that possible solution does not come without its own worries, as Chris Winter pointed out on this site yesterday.
Some of the longest-standing season ticket holders fall into the one of the categories that is most at risk, namely, old-age.
Plus, several members in the scenario selected may be reticent to leave the safety of their abodes to journey into the unknown.
My view is that an easier way to decide who gets one of the 1000 golden tickets would be to hold a random ballot for season-ticket holders, after giving those who have no qualms about attending the game, 24 hours to register.

Hi mh, I think you will find that we are getting 1,000 seats an the owners staff an players are getting the rest. Also I feel a ballot was the way to go. But I feel that it may be to late to preregistration to take place
so there’ll be close to 1500 in the ground lol
I feel a ballot would be the best option for those who have registered. I am a 76 year old long serving season ticket holder but feel for health risks I would not want to attend at this time.
I am hopeful the club will allow those who do not want to attend at present will be allowed to to continue viewing with iFollow.

If we can not watch it on i follow we should get a refund on our season ticket as l live in a tire 3 and we could be in it till march next year
