On a mild Kent evening, Luton contrived to throw away two points as our hosts came back from 2-0 down to snatch a point at the death.

It was one of those nights whereby you didn`t know whether to laugh or cry. The cruel manner in which the points were snatched away from us was enough to shed a tear or two but the fact that we`re all use dot conceding these late goals made you want to offer a wry smile.

Gary Brabin basically stuck with the eleven that had won at Kidderminster, on Saturday, although one change was necessary after Keith Keane had picked up his fifth yellow card of the season meaning a call up for Paul Carden.

With a decent away following cheering them on, Luton took a lead into the half time break courtesy of Amari Morgan-Smith. The goal, in the forty-fourth minute was worth waiting for with Amari controlling the ball and beating Craig Stone, in one swift movement, before beating Preston Edwards, in the Ebbsfleet goal, with a wonderful strike.

For some reason, everything felt a little flat in the second half, although with seventy-one minutes on the clock, the traveling support was cheering with delight when James Dance doubled the lead.

The goal came after Dance collected a throw form Curtis Osano before striking a shot under the keeper`s body. It should have been the strike that signaled a Hatters win but Michael West, of Ebbsfleet, had other ideas.

With thirteen minutes to go, Luton didn`t clear a corner with any conviction and Mark Tyler was at fault when he could only fumble a shot from West into the net. Worse was to come though, after Adam Watkins had missed a glorious chance to make the game safe in the last minute, West struck in the third of four minutes of stoppage time.

This time though there was no element of good fortune about the goal with West latching on to a poorly cleared set-piece to lash an unstoppable shot past Tyler and into the net off the underside of the bar.

It was definitely not the end to an evening we`d all anticipated.
