With the end of the season fast approaching Nathan Jones will, this summer, have to make some crucial decisions over players he wants to form part of our squad next season and those he feels have served their purpose.

One player whose future is in doubt is our veteran striker Paul Benson.

Speculation has arisen since Benson gave an interview to an Essex newspaper which may have given some the inference that he could be set to link up with John Still again, at Dagenham and Redbridge.

Now 36 years of age, Benson has scored 25 goals in his 84 Hatters appearances but upon hearing the speculation, Nathan Jones revealed the dup have had a chat, with Jones remarking to the local media,

“Me and Benno have had a conversation, I`ve spoken to Benno which will remain in house.

“Benno trains really well, he`s been really important part of the squad and gives us options as he did brilliantly when he played at Plymouth recently.

“He had opportunities to move, and we decided it would better that he stayed here.

“So what I feel about Benno and he knows exactly how I feel and we`ll keep that in house, but Benno has been a fantastic servant for the club and whether it`s here or somewhere else, he`s got plenty left in him yet.”

Which begs us to ask you all the big question – Will Paul Benson still be a Hatter next season?

Your thoughts would be most appreciated.
