Behind Closed Doors Football Gives Luton Town A Possible Moral Dilemma

|

I’m firm in the belief that we’ll not be watching the Hatters in action, in the flesh, again this season.

I believe that, if the EFL decide a resumption of the 2019 / 2020 season is allowable, the remaining games will be played behind closed doors.

Whilst many may see this as, if it happens, disappointing news, I feel it is somewhat inevitable.

But, if that is the case, it throws up an important question.

Thousands who flock to Kenilworth Road, to watch Luton Town Football Club, do so by using their season ticket, a ticket they’ve paid for to watch 23 home fixtures.

Which begs me to ask the question – are those season ticket holders entitled to a refund?

It is a prickly question which prompts several questions, notably:

Would season tickets want to be reimbursed or would they be prepared to sacrifice any refund they may, by law, be entitled to?

Would the club be bold enough to offer a refund in the first place?

Could a compromise be made with the club offering a discount on season tickets for the 2020 / 2021 season?

My view is that I’d be perfectly happy for the club to keep my money but is that a view you concur with?

Hi mh, I really appreciate this article. An I think that many of us will be happy to forgo a refund on this year’s season ticket as this is a way we can support the club during this crisis. We supporters have to do whatever we can to ensure that our club does not go under financially again.

Hi MH may I begin by saying I’m not a season ticket holder but the thought of completing the season behind close doors, where is the advantage of playing at home and having to win our home games to have any chance of staying up but with the 12th man and the Kenny rocking I fancy or chances of doing that

I work as a cleaner earning the minimum wage so would need refunding any monies outstanding to me.

Hi all…myself, my wife & my grandson are all happy for the club to forget any talk of a refund…also if games go behind closed doors , then we can all watch on the clubs ifollow, if sky dont do the decent thing & show games on the red button….hope everyone is all fit & well in these awful times…keep safe all….

I’d hope Sky, considering the lack of any decent live sport at the moment, would make every effort to show all the games on the red button even if the coverage resembles 1970’s production quality.

  • Alan says:

Oh 70s football…1 commentator & no half a dozen so called experts stating the bleeding obvious on what players should & shouldn’t be doing…bliss….

Live games were a treat back then and just highlights to savour on a Saturday night and a Sunday afternoon, I think we appreciated televised football a lot more then.
