An Unlikely Luton Scorer But Not As Unlikely As The Over-The-Top Celebration

I’m not saying that when Matty Pearson scored Luton’s second goal, on Saturday, at Shrewsbury, was the unlikeliest of scorers but the manner in which he scored certainly was.

To me, it looked as if Matty, when he received the ball, was simply trying to float it back into the mixer.

But, much to our delight it ended up in the back of the net, giving the Hatters a two-goal cushion Shrewsbury were never going to come back from.

However, if the manner of the goal was unlikely, the celebration was also somewhat unique with Matty going on a sprint that saw him run the length of the pitch.

After the game and speaking to the local media, Matty had this it say about his celebration,

“I think emotion got the better of me.

“But it was a good old sprint, wasn’t it?”

Continuing, Matty also had something to say about the Hatters current run that has seen them go 18 games unbeaten in League One whilst also establishing a six-point lead at the top of the table, with Matty further adding:

“We’re in a good place and delighted to keep the run going.”

Indeed we are, although we face Wycombe Wanderers, at Kenilworth Road, this Saturday with Wycombe looking to defend their five-game unbeaten run.
