Earlier in the week, when Luton Town issued their squad retention list, it was announced that Andrew Shinnie would be returning to Birmingham City, after spending the 2017 / 2018 season on loan at Kenilworth Road.

It has now been announced that Shinnie, who played 34 games for the Hatters last season, has been released by the Championship side, therefore making him a free agent.

Now, previously, Nathan Jones has spoken about the 28-year-old in glowing terms with the news source, Dunstable Today, recalling that the gaffer remarked,

“I’ve already spoken to Andrew Shinnie and we’d like to sign him.

“He’s one that we rate, one that’s done fantastically well.

“We were looking at Shinnie when I was at Brighton, we were looking for Championship players, so we believe in him.

“He started the season on fire, until Christmas he was brilliant, January, he still contributed, February, he still contributed, but less and then probably the last seven or eight games where he hasn’t been at his fluent best.”

If that is still the case, could Shinnie be making a return to Luton Town in the most unexpected of turnarounds?

Here at Vital Luton, we’d certainly approve of Luton bringing the Scottish international back to the club although the final decision could be all about the financial cost.

But, here at Vital Luton, we’ll keep our eyes and ears open for any further developments and report back as deemed necessary.
