Regular visitors to Vital Luton Town cannot fail to have noticed that, over the past weeks, we’ve published numerous ‘Best-Ever Luton Town XI’ articles as provided by the membership.

Today, having published the last one we received yesterday, we are in a position to start revealing who, according to your Best-Ever XI’s, has made our all-time Best-Ever XI.

As you’d expect, we’re starting with the man between the sticks – the goalkeeper.

Everyone had their own ideas on who they preferred to be the sticks but, once the votes were tallied up, we had a clear winner – Ron Baynham.

Other notables that appeared in your selections were Milija Aleksic, Mark Tyler, Les Sealey, Tony Read and Ian Feuer. Strangely there was no mention of Keith Barber, Graham Horn and Andy Dibble to name but three.

But with Ron Baynham being the clear winner, we thought we’d deliver a few facts on the keeper who gained international honours whilst on the books at Kenilworth Road.

Name – Ronald Leslie Baynham
Born – 10 June 1929
Birthplace – Birmingham, England
Height – 6 feet 1 inch
Clubs – Erdington Rovers, Bromford Amateurs, Worcester City, Luton Town
International Honours – England (3 caps)

Baynham made almost 400 League appearances for the Hatters spanning the period 1951 to 1966 and is your selection as the goalkeeper in the Best-Ever Luton Town XI.
