When the fixtures for the new season were announced, there was a collective sigh heard around Bedfordshire.

After a five year absence from the Football League, courtesy of a draconian punishment for crimes committed by people no longer at the club, Luton supporters were hoping that if they couldn`t get a first home fixture they`d at least be given an away fixture that wasn`t too far away.

Instead the Hatters faithful were given a trip to Carlisle United, a round trip of 550 miles approximately.

But, after a five year absence that wasn`t to deter the Luton faithful and Carlisle United have confirmed that a magnificent 1088 Hatters fans passed through the turnstiles.

Tell the world folks – Luton Town are back!
